I observed the Jahai (male) will carry a parang similar to the one below complete with the PVC sheath. I believe that the material for the sheath was selected because of its durability in coping with abuse that the parang has to endure throughout its useful life. I guess my parang will also endure the punishing life ahead with ease.

That is some tool! I have a bear grylls parang machete which I love and think its cool, but your's is something else, it just looks so real!
